Benefits Of Using EFT
“One of the most wonderful things about this technique is that regular use will imbue you with a feeling of optimism and general wellbeing, the likes of which you may not have experienced for years” Steve Wells & Dr David Lake www.eftdownunder.com
There are FOUR main effects of EFT:
- It is very relaxing. Many people experience a relaxation response within minutes of applying EFT
- It desensitizes and minimizes negative/toxic emotions and releases stuck emotions
- It weakens the associated negative beliefs underlying our problems
- After several weeks of practice the effect “generalizes” to our whole system and outlook, which becomes typically more light and optimistic

EFT is a self-applied technique or self help protocol that can be quickly and easily learnt by anyone including children. It can be used as a personal self help tool, providing an instantly accessible means of comforting and calming yourself down in any stressful or emotionally intense situation.
When familiar with the process you really can use EFT to help yourself in moments of doubt, confusion, upheaval and fear, or even to prepare for an up and coming event, the thought of which may create worry, anxiety and fear e.g. childbirth, starting a new business, building a new house, job interview etc. EFT has also been effectively used in a wide range of situations, including helping people during major disasters and the aftermath of trauma, crime and war.
While some more complex problems may require the intervention of a skilled therapist, ordinary people can learn EFT and apply it to their ‘life problems’, often achieving great relief.
Once you learn how to apply the technique to yourself it can be used to treat (either with an EFT practitioner or on your own) any physical or emotional problem or life challenge (large or small) that contains a negative emotional component or negative ‘charge.’
Applying EFT to any problem, negative thoughts or feelings you wish to be free of, clears or reduces the intensity of the emotions surrounding the problem. This in turn provides somatic or physiological relief, felt as a distinctive ‘shift’ in your body’s energy, thoughts, feelings and emotions. Taking the ‘charge’ out of any emotional disturbance automatically leaves you feeling more relaxed, at peace and better equipped to handle life.
EFT is versatile and has been used confidently by hundreds of therapists on thousands of clients with successes on even the most difficult problems. So far EFT has proven to be:
Effective - EFT reduces emotional pain by at least half, more than 90% of the time and eliminates the problem completely about 80% of the time. (This may require professional treatment with an EFT practitioner but has been achieved by ordinary people with an advanced knowledge of the techniques)
Rapid – most problems are eliminated in two to five sessions of 30-60 minutes. Some are gone within the first few minutes. In many cases, difficulties that have persisted in spite of years of work using the methods of traditional psychology or counseling may be relieved in significantly less time. Relief is generally possible within days or weeks rather than years. Its results are long lasting and the side effects are almost always positive.
Non-invasive – you or the therapist taps gently on specific points on your face, upper body an hand.
Gentle & Pain Free – you do not have to revisit an experience to heal its effects. EFT works even if you are unwilling or unable to describe or talk about an issue or event, which may be too traumatic to even think about. EFT recognizes that it is not necessary to analyze and probe what is often sensitive personal information, in order for inner change to occur. Given the opportunity to review old fears, sensitivities or unwanted habits, within the privacy of our inner mind, it is safer and easier to let go of a lot of emotions and the associated pain. EFT Therapists use various non-disclosure, pacing and distancing techniques that can assist people to deal with personal material that is too difficult too confront or bring to conscious thought.
Inclusive – EFT does not conflict with any other forms of treatment of any kind. Whilst EFT has been used effectively as a stand-alone treatment for conditions such as phobia’s, fears and anxiety, it can be used in conjunction with other therapies such as traditional ‘talk’ therapies and bodywork therapies to yield more rapid results.
